i wanted to draw you something sweet.

fingerpaint your name across a pink sheet,

but someone told me i was too old.

 so i looked for another kind of treat.

i wanted to make you something cool.

a calendar filled with drawings of you & me,

but someone said that'd take too long.

so i thought about the ways to make you happy.

i decided to write you something nice,

but i couldn't think of what to say.

so instead i made this, & hoped

that it would make your day.

happy mother's day,

to the mother that has always loved me.

through the thick & thin, despite the distances: physical & mental.

i love you.
